Ganesha Wedding Invitation Frame Gift

Last week I shared a peacock framed design that I made for a friend’s wedding that had part of their wedding invitation in the design.    A week after that wedding we had another wedding to attend, so I got to make another frame!  This time I was able to use more of the actual wedding invitation, so the quilling was more like an accent to it.

This time it was a Ganesha wedding invitation. Below you can see the front of the card which was dark red, and below that was the inside of the card.  My husband said that the quote on the inside was very nice, so he asked me to include it in the design.

It was a nice curly type design, so I decided to just add quilling to the top of all the main lines in the design.

I used complementary colors to make a design around the edge of it, in a sort of a Persian carpet inspired design.  The background is a paper accessory sheet that comes in the same color as the quilling paper.  I used the Specktacular Latte color as it matched best with the brown in the leaf design.

Just like the peacock frame, I used a 5″ by 7″ frame from Ikea.  Usually I prefer to use a shadow box frame (which you can also find at Custom Quilling Shop), but I didn’t have one on hand.  I cut strips of the matt that came with this frame, glued it to the inside edges next to the glass, and glued the finished piece on that and used a hot glue gun to glue the back of the frame  onto that.

I find it tricky to get a good photo of a piece once it is under glass, but here is one at an angle:
