I have tried a product that works well with quilling for me. I just use it to stabilize the project so that the coils stay in place. You need to start with a thin coat of stabilizer so this gives you the ability to do a VERY thin coat and also get down in the small crevasses. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VY9DNM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This link is to Amazon for a picture of it. It is Mod Podge spray. Have you ever tried it? If so, what do you think? The one downside is that by itself it doesn't do much. You have to then go on to use more sealant. And the smell is very strong so you have to do it in a well ventilated space or spray and then walk away from it for awhile. It is helpful though in that you won't lose your hard work from the coils uncoiling or fusing together. It also helps to hide some of the glue globs. No matter how hard I try to use as little glue as possible, I always get some.
Hi, thanks for your comment. I have tried some spray sealers, but not the one you mention. Like you said, they have fumes so you have to use them in a ventilated area. If I am making a large quilled piece to be framed it might be worth it, but for jewelry I never use spray sealers. I prefer non toxic when possible as I have kids and don’t have time to go outside to do my sealing.
